Just a quick post to let you know that the new version of Bliin has been made available to download today. I’ve been playing around with the new version on my N80 last night, and N95 today and there’s some marked improvements. I’ve posted about Bliin here before, and I was impressed but slightly critical of the software. Turns out that was my fault. You really shouldn’t install apps to your memory card, it makes them run awfully. Since shifting my install location, I’ve been using it nearly every day.
The opening page has a bit more info on there, showing what part of the connection stage you’re at. Also shows how many available GPS points you have, so N95 owners will see both their internal and external GOS if they have one, and an option to switch between the two.
A big thing for me is that pics you upload are now scaled down before they are sent. This makes a huge difference. I uploaded a test pic and was amazed when it was sent in a few seconds.
There’s a big feature that they’ve added this time which they seem very proud of, and I think it’s a great idea. they’ve now added an option to be shown as idle if you have no GPS signal. You can add bookmarks from the main site and then access these later to show people where they are. For example, I’ve got a bookmark on my house, so when I;ve not got GPS, people know I’m in! You can also be shown at your last known location too, so say it tracks you into a pub, you can set a bookmark there.
It’s little updates like this that are gonna make this a must have app in my opinion.
I would also just like to mention the people who work at Bliin. they’re a really friendly bunch who always leave you comments on stuff you’ve uploaded, and will help you out if there is a problem. There was a couple of little bugs with the new N95 version, and Tomas there spent a good few hours today sending me version after version, until we got one that worked right. they take in your feedback, and listen to what we have to say.
Cheers guys, thanks for the new version, and keep up the good work.
