Shazam mobile app

November 14th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Gerrymoth has posted up a great find here.

For those that don’t know, Shazam is a service that recognises music that’s playing and sends you a text telling you what the name of the song and band is. great for when you hear something that you love and just can’t remember the name! It does this by you dialing a number (2580) and holding the phone towards a speaker that’s playing the tune you want to tag. It listens for 15 seconds and then bangs you back a text with the names! Brilliant thing, and it’s helped me win many a Pop Quiz at my local. Sorry Dave from The Strawberry. You had to find out sometime.

Anyways, Shazam have now created a Symbian app to do exactly the same. However now it works over mobile data so if you’ve got a data package, it’s totally free! I’ve been trying this out with a selection of music, and it’s all worked flawlessly. It even shows the album art. Very cool stuff and it’s definately an app that will stay on my own for a while to come.

Use your barcode scanner to download the app straight to your phone. Alternatively, click the link.
