Geek Fitness - Day 2

December 6th, 2007 · 11 Comments

Day two done. This was probably the one I needed to get through to make sure I continued. Legs were aching today, it’s chucking it down with rain and I really couldn’t think of anything worse than running.

I actually don’t feel nearly as bad as yesterday. Slightly further, 8 seconds less time. That I like. If this continues, I’ll be a happy man. I just need those damn scales now to see if it’s actually working!

The Mp3 player really helped tonight. Some good tunes, really kept me going.

Here’s the link for Day 2. Geek Fitess Day 2

Off to do some Wii Boxing now. This is so the geekiest keep fit routine ever.

Geek Fit! I was just about to register it . . . but of course someone’s already done it!

Okay, on Saturday, I’ll give some seriously thought to following your programme. I need to figure out a route that’s the same length . . .

    Damn swines.

I think we should all get on it. It feels good.

    Apart from the jelly legs.

Yeah, the jelly legs . . . I haven’t been running since February, so the legs will surely be shaky at first.

    three words: much.too.fast.!
as a beginner, you should not start at an average speed of 10kmh. do some reserach on a sensible trainings plan for a beginning runner. the most common mistake of most beginners is to extremely overdo it in the first few month..!
also, without changing your diet and livestyle, you probably will not have lasting success (sorry) ;-)

Hey dude, I’ve been contemplating this for the last couple of days, and I think I’m gonna join in. I wouldn’t say it’s a new year resolution cos thats a bit cliche, but 2008 is definately the year I want to try and sort my fitness out.

Right then, off to install the latest version of sports tracker……

Good on you! I started running in April 07 and I’m really into it now. Don’t care what the weather’s like, I just love it. Have to say I thought the same as one of the other comments - you might want to calm down a bit and drop your pace back a little so you don’t burn yourself out. Also, your body needs 24-36 hours to recover from a decent run. I used the Bupa running plans when I started (mainly because I like structure). Here’s a link you may (or may not) find useful. Can’t wait to hear more on your progress.

    Here’s that dastardly missing link

I don’t know if this project has now died or if you plan to come back to it once you’ve resolved your personal things, but I’d highly recommend trying the Couch to 5k running plan. I did it last year (starting from much the same point as you by the sounds of it) and it was great - a good starting point. Since then, I’m playing squash and doing weights regularly and all the better for it.
